Scholarship Program

Krewe of Pyros Foundation, Inc. announces our annual scholarship program. Under the program, there are three types of annual scholarships and one honorary scholarship that Illuminate the Path to Empowerment for currently enrolled Louisiana Natives attending college in DC, Maryland, or Virginia (DMV). Applicants that are current residents of DC, Maryland or Virginia (DMV) attending college in Louisiana are also encouraged to apply. Current active members of the Krewe of Pyros Foundation, Inc and their immediate family members are NOT eligible to apply. Immediate family includes spouses, parents, siblings, and (step)children. The eligibility requirements for each scholarship vary.

Award winners are expected to continue their community service efforts, participating in at least one community service project with The Krewe of Pyros Foundation, Inc.

Founders’ Leadership:
Describe how Leadership has impacted your life and the steps you will take in the future to illuminate the path for others. Discuss how Louisiana’s culture has shaped who you are as a person.

Close the Gap:
Describe how this scholarship will assist you in continuing to excel in your studies. Discuss in your essay where do you see yourself in five years as it relates to your current education and career path.

Community Service:
Describe how volunteer or community service has shaped who you are today and what community service has taught you. Discuss in your essay any challenges or obstacles you have dealt with and overcome in life.

Rae of Sunshine Scholarship in honor of deceased Charter Member Rae Prayor:
Describe how you see yourself currently making a positive social impact and being a light in the larger community that is focused in terms of the environment, social justice, economic fairness, health conditions, quality of life or other social concerns.
