through our scholarship program.

Scholarship Program

Krewe of Pyros Foundation, Inc. announces our annual scholarship program. Under the program, there are three types of annual scholarships that Illuminate the Path to Empowerment for currently enrolled students from Louisiana attending college in DC, Maryland, or Virginia (DMV) and currently enrolled students from DC, Maryland or Virginia (DMV) attending college in Louisiana. Current active members of The Krewe of Pyros Foundation, Inc. and their immediate family members are NOT eligible to apply. Immediate family includes spouses, parents, siblings, and (step)children. The eligibility requirements for each scholarship varies.

FounderS' Leadership Scholarship

One (1) $3,000 scholarship is specifically focused on a student who has a strong appreciation for the culture of Louisiana. Applicant must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and a leadership role in an extracurricular activity. Special consideration will be given to those in Social Sciences.

Close the Gap Scholarship

Three (3) $1,500 scholarships are available for those enrolled in college or vocational learning (arts, culinary, music). Applicant must have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA and prove that they are in the last year of their degree or program.

Community Service Scholarship

Three (3) $1,000 scholarships are available for those students who volunteer more than 40 hours per semester in non-school sponsored activities. Applicant must have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA.

Rae of Sunshine Scholarship

The Rae of Sunshine Scholarship is in honor of deceased Charter Member Rae Prayor. It is a one (1) $2,000 scholarship focused specifically on making a positive difference at the local, regional or larger community in terms of the environment, socioeconomic, social justice, food equity, quality of life, and health/wellness improvements. Applicant must have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA.

Program Guidelines & Priorities:

Scholarship funds will be paid in December directly to the student. Applicants are invited to apply to multiple scholarships, but individuals are only allowed to receive one.

The applications will be reviewed, and the Krewe of Pyros Scholarship Committee and Board of Directors will select recipients. Selected recipients will be required to submit proof of residence and a high-resolution photo (.PNG) required. Please submit any questions to [email protected].
