The Annual
Mardi Gras Ball
Each January at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. For one night, the Nation's Capital becomes New Orleans — a black-tie celebration of royalty, brass, masking, and Mardi Gras tradition.
The evening opens the way every great New Orleans celebration begins — with a second line. An authentic New Orleans brass band leads members and guests in, horns blaring, umbrellas twirling, the unmistakable rhythm of home rolling through the room. A single formal toast is given, and from there the night unfolds as a full immersion in Mardi Gras culture: live brass and jazz, Louisiana-inspired cuisine, and the pageantry of Carnival brought to life on a formal stage in Washington, D.C.
Family, friends, sponsors, and government and business leaders from across the country gather for this black-tie celebration — not just to witness Louisiana culture, but to stand inside of it for one night. It is our largest celebration and fundraiser of the year.
